Coffee Cocktails and a Hojicha Tiramisu Parfait: Autumn Specials at Bar Ignis Otaru

Autumn in Otaru, Hokkaido, is a season of slowly lengthening nights.
With comfortable temperatures and a gentle evening breeze, it’s the kind of season when you want to stay out a little longer and spend more time with someone special.
In this article, we’d like to introduce our autumn-only cocktails and parfait, available at “Bar Ignis Otaru“, the lobby bar inside UNWIND HOTEL & BAR OTARU.
Autumn Nights Aren’t Just for Sipping Coffee
This fall, Bar Ignis Otaru is serving coffee in some unexpected ways, with four seasonal menu items.
Coffee turns into a cocktail, or becomes the accent in a closing parfait.
From a slow drink to wind down your evening to a sweet parfait to end the night, here are our four limited-time bar menu items for this autumn!
Autumn-Only Cocktails
Bar Ignis Otaru offers seasonal cocktails that capture the mood and flavors of each time of year. In Hokkaido, where autumn days and nights can differ a lot in temperature, we have a warming hot cocktail, a spicy sip, and a non-alcoholic option. Here are three cocktails to match whatever mood you’re in.
After Hours — ¥1,500 (tax included)

A cozy moment on an autumn night.
We infuse apple brandy with cinnamon, then add ginger, pomegranate, and honey, and top it off with warm coffee.
You’ll get the sweet, spicy aroma of cinnamon and a pleasant kick of ginger.
Then comes the tartness of pomegranate and the gentle sweetness of honey, followed by the rich, roasted flavor of coffee.
It’s a drink to enjoy slowly, breathing in the aroma rising from the warm glass.
On a chilly autumn night, it warms you up, body and mind.
Off Duty — ¥1,500 (tax included)

“Off duty” means being free from work and responsibilities.
When you’re traveling, you want to forget your everyday routine and let your shoulders drop.
We named this drink for exactly those free, unhurried moments.
It’s made with rum and coffee liqueur, mixed with pomegranate juice and cola, and finished with a fresh hint of lime.
The roasted coffee, the tartness of pomegranate, and the crisp cola come together in a cocktail that’s full of flavor yet easy to drink.
A squeeze of lime peel on top releases a bright, fresh aroma the moment you lift the glass.
Perfect for an evening back at the hotel after exploring Otaru.
“Let’s take today easy.”
If that’s how you’re feeling, this is the drink for you.
UNWIND Coffee Tonic — ¥1,100 (tax included)

It’s coffee, but with a fizzy, refreshing twist.
This non-alcoholic cocktail is great for anyone who doesn’t drink alcohol.
We combine non-alcoholic beer syrup, lime, and KUMI BOOST, a mugwort-flavored tonic water, then float cold brew coffee made with RITARU COFFEE’s iced coffee blend on top.
The result is a clean, crisp taste with the distinctive flavor of cold brew.
A squeeze of orange peel adds a soft citrus aroma.
Coffee and bubbles make a surprisingly fresh pairing.
It’s a great pick for a night without alcohol, or as a drink after dinner.
Autumn-Only Closing Parfait
In Hokkaido, it’s a well-loved custom to end a night of food and drinks with a parfait, known as a “shime parfait” (closing parfait).
At Bar Ignis Otaru, we make our shime parfaits with seasonal ingredients and flavors.
This autumn’s parfait is an indulgent treat that brings together roasted hojicha tea, coffee, chestnut yokan, warabi mochi, and other flavors of the season.
Hojicha meets tiramisu. To end an autumn night, why not enjoy both Japanese and Western flavors?

Diced sponge cake is soaked in cold brew coffee and Marsala wine, then topped with our homemade hojicha mascarpone cream.
The surface of the cream is dusted with cocoa powder for a tiramisu-style finish.
Alongside it, you’ll find hojicha ice cream, rum raisin butter, chestnut yokan, and warabi mochi, giving you a wide range of textures and flavors.
Roasted hojicha and slightly bitter coffee meet the smooth richness of mascarpone.
Then come the sweet and salty notes of chestnut yokan and raisin butter, along with the chewy bite of warabi mochi.
Crispy tuile and gold leaf finish it off, making it as beautiful as it is delicious.
It blends Western-style tiramisu with Japanese ingredients like chestnut, hojicha, and warabi mochi.
This is an autumn shime parfait you’ll only find at Bar Ignis Otaru.
Enjoy it with a cocktail, or come to Bar Ignis Otaru just for the parfait.
Take your time and savor it as part of a long autumn night.
Start Your Autumn Night with “What Should I Have Today?”

From lively summer nights to calmer autumn evenings.
After a day of walking around Otaru, you might want to head back to the hotel and relax a little longer.
For that kind of evening, why not try the autumn-only menu at Bar Ignis Otaru?
There’s the warming “After Hours,” the carefree “Off Duty,” and the crisp, refreshing “UNWIND Coffee Tonic.”
And to finish, the “Hojicha Tiramisu Parfait,” packed with the flavors of autumn.
