UNWIND HOTEL&BAR OTARU has been awarded the Cityscape award of Otaru City
Thanks to all of your support, Unwind Hotel&Bar Otaru was able to win the “24th Otaru Cityscape Award”. The award was established in 1988 to celebrate the buildings and events that create a cityscape that is in harmony with the history and atmosphere of Otaru city.
The building, which has been designated as a historic building designated by Otaru City, was built as a hotel in 1931, and after being requisitioned by the military was at risk of being demolished. Thankfully, it was then opened again in its actual form in the Heisei period, but it has been closed in 2009.
After that, our company (Global Agents Co., Ltd.) carried out a large-scale renovation, and in April 2019, it was reborn as “UNWIND HOTEL&BAR OTARU” with 36 rooms that fused classic architecture and contemporary interior design.
The cityscape award has evaluated UNWIND HOTEL&BAR OTARU as a good example of increasing the value of historic buildings and linking them to regeneration and utilization through renovations and excellent designs that do not spoil the appearance at the time of construction.
Then, on Thursday, December 23, last year, the award ceremony for the 24th Otaru City Cityscape Award was held in the Otaru City mayor’s Reception Room.
At UNWIND HOTEL&BAR OTARU, we will continue to convey the charm of Otaru to locals and tourists through their experience of staying at the hotel.

The Otaru City Cityscape Award is a commendation for buildings and events that create a cityscape that is in harmony with the history and atmosphere of Otaru.
Founded in 1988. The Otaru City Cityscape Award was given to individuals and groups engaged in buildings and events that contribute to the formation of a good cityscape, and individuals who were recognized for their positive attitude and efforts to form a good cityscape.
