A Mont Blanc Hidden in Cotton Candy — THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA’s New Autumn Café Bar Menu, Featuring Kyushu Sweet Potato and Fig, from October 6

THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA will introduce a limited-edition autumn menu at THE LIVELY BAR FUKUOKA HAKATA starting Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

DIG Mont Blanc

A new autumn creation joins the café bar menu that’s already made local headlines

At THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA, dessert is never an afterthought. Built around the concept of “Emode” — a blend of “emotional” and “mode” — the hotel rolls out original sweets tied to each season and event, turning food into a whole new kind of hotel experience. Photo-worthy desserts served in guest rooms and at the café have already caught the attention of local media and social media alike, time and again.

An autumn campaign open to more than just hotel guests: “DIG MY Autumn”

This autumn, THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA is running a limited-time campaign called “DIG MY Autumn.”

Built around the idea of digging deeper into the season, the campaign offers desserts and drinks packed with seasonal ingredients, along with décor designed to immerse guests fully in autumn.

Autumn feels shorter every year — lingering summer heat gives way almost overnight to the first chill of winter.

Precisely because the season is so fleeting, this campaign creates a space and an experience where autumn can be felt the moment you step through the hotel doors, regardless of the weather or temperature outside.

At the heart of the concept is the idea of “digging” into autumn yourself.

The word comes from the English “dig” — to explore something deeply, or to uncover charms not yet widely known.

That spirit of digging is layered onto the season itself, through surprising ingredient pairings, shifting flavors and colors, and interactive elements guests complete themselves — all designed to reveal a side of autumn you haven’t encountered before.

Rather than simply enjoying the classic tastes of the season, “dig” a little deeper and discover the charm of autumn you never noticed before.

Half the fun is in the eating: the “DIG Mont Blanc”

The star of the limited-time dessert lineup is the “DIG Mont Blanc,” available in two versions built on the ultimate autumn classic.

Each Mont Blanc arrives hidden beneath a cloud of cotton candy, its contents a mystery until you pour on the accompanying warm osmanthus syrup yourself. As the syrup melts the cotton candy away, a Mont Blanc decorated with motifs of the season slowly comes into view — turning dessert into something closer to a treasure hunt, full of anticipation with every bite.

Each version stars a different Kyushu ingredient — Beni Haruka sweet potato from Kyushu or Toyomitsuhime fig from Fukuoka — prepared through a range of techniques, textures, and flavors. Every bite brings something new, with layers of contrasting tastes and textures built into a single plate. Rather than simply arranging seasonal ingredients together, the dessert lets guests dig into the shifting flavors and unexpected pairings that make autumn’s harvest so rewarding.

■”Sweet Potato × Chestnut”

Beni Haruka sweet potato from Kyushu takes the lead, paired with seasonal chestnut.

The sweet potato appears throughout the dish in multiple forms and textures — a chilled sweet potato soup, fried sweet potato, and sweet potato catalana. Layers of sponge cake, chestnut whipped cream, and candied chestnut and sweet potato are wrapped in Mont Blanc cream, building a dessert with many different flavors in every bite.

The decoration draws on the theme of tsukimi, Japan’s tradition of moon-viewing, evoking the quiet stillness of a Japanese autumn night. Candied sweet potato sticks, sablé cookies, a yellow macaron shaped like the moon, and a ginkgo-leaf tuile complete the scene, scattering symbols of the season across the plate.

Flavors and textures include: chilled sweet potato dessert soup, fried sweet potato, sweet potato catalana, sponge cake, chestnut whipped cream, candied chestnut and sweet potato, sweet potato yōkan, Mont Blanc cream, candied sweet potato sticks, rabbit-shaped sablé cookies, lemon macaron, ginkgo-leaf tuile, orange-flavored cotton candy, and osmanthus syrup.

“Fig × Cassis”

Toyomitsuhime fig from Fukuoka takes the lead, paired with cassis.

The fig appears in a chilled fig dessert soup and fig catalana, among other preparations. Layers of dried fig and fig yōkan are combined with cassis cake and whipped cream, along with Kyoho grapes from Fukuoka, all wrapped in a cassis-and-fig Mont Blanc cream.

The decoration takes its cue from an autumn harvest festival, celebrating the season’s abundance in vivid style. Sliced fig, a maple-leaf sablé, a red macaron evoking an autumn sunset, and a ginkgo-leaf tuile bring the harvest theme to life on the plate.

Flavors and textures include: chilled fig dessert soup, fig catalana, dried fig, cassis cake, whipped cream, Kyoho grape and fig, fig yōkan, cassis-and-fig Mont Blanc cream, sliced fig, maple-leaf sablé, berry macaron, ginkgo-leaf tuile, grape-flavored cotton candy, and osmanthus syrup.

Two drinks that turn autumn flavors into dessert

From left in the image:

“GOBOU Royal Chocolate Milk Tea” — ¥800 (tax included)

A frozen dessert drink built on Kyushu mascarpone and Yame wakōcha black tea, pairing burdock root with chocolate for a flavor combination unlike anything else this autumn.

Rich chocolate is blended into a full-bodied royal milk tea, then paired with burdock root to create a flavor no one’s tried before. Mascarpone lends it the density and smooth texture of a tiramisu, while the drink layers the deep aroma of Yame wakōcha tea, the richness of chocolate, and the distinctive character of burdock root into a single cup. A burdock-infused chocolate sauce is served on the side, letting guests adjust the flavor to taste — or pour it over the DIG Mont Blanc for an extra layer of indulgence.

“Moonlit Apple” — ¥1,000 (tax included)

Built on apple bourbon, this dessert cocktail carries the sweet, toasty aroma of apple pie — the perfect companion for a long autumn evening.

Apple, one of the season’s signature flavors, takes center stage, with a round ice sphere standing in for the moon to evoke the scene of tsukimi, moon-viewing.

The garnish is caramelized apple, which brings out the fruit’s natural sweetness while adding a warm, toasted apple-pie note. A cranberry sauce, served separately, can be poured in to deepen the color from a pale golden hue reminiscent of apple flesh into a richer autumn shade — a cocktail that lets guests watch, and taste, the season deepen right in front of them.
