A Taste of Italian Summer in Nezu: Introducing “GRANI-TÈ,” Our Limited Summer Sweet

At GRAPHY NEZU CAFE & LOUNGE, the café attached to our hotel, we’ve reimagined this classic with something special. Drawing from our concept of “Meet Local. Feel Global,” we’ve blended an international summer tradition with Japanese tea culture to bring you an unforgettable dessert.

“GRANI-TÈ” — a summer-only menu that combines Italy’s frozen treat “granita” with tea

In Sicily, Italy, there’s a long-standing tradition of enjoying a frozen dessert called granita on hot summer days. Think of it as an Italian take on shaved ice — a café classic in its home region. Unlike ordinary shaved ice, granita is made by freezing a liquid that’s already been flavored, so the aroma and taste come through evenly and directly with every bite.

At GRAPHY NEZU CAFE & LOUNGE, we’ve taken that tradition and blended it with Japanese tea to create our own original shaved ice. We call it “GRANI-TÈ.” TÈ is the Italian word for “tea,” and this dessert delivers a summer experience that connects Japan with the wider world — exactly what GRAPHY is all about. The tea we use comes from “THE NODOKA,” the same brand we offer in the welcome pack in our guest rooms.

THE NODOKA is a premium Japanese tea made from whole tea leaves ground into a fine powder, grown by top producers in Shizuoka without any pesticides or chemical fertilizers. It carries organic certification — something extremely rare for domestically grown tea leaves — so you can enjoy tea that is both safe and of the very highest quality. It’s a favorite among guests staying at HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU as well.

Expect delicate tea aromas, smooth whipped cream, and a harmonious mix of fresh fruits and house-made sauces in every bite.

GRANI-TÈ NODOKA Series

Japanese Black Tea & Peach — ¥650

Gentle and floral notes of Japanese black tea paired with the bright sweetness of fresh peach. Clean and refreshing, it’s the perfect summer indulgence.

Hojicha & Strawberry — ¥650

Earthy roasted hojicha meets sweet-tart strawberry, wrapped in creamy panna cotta. There’s something comforting and nostalgic about this combination.

Matcha & Mango — ¥650

Rich, umami-forward matcha with its subtle bitterness plays against tropical mango’s sweetness. A luxurious contrast you’ll want to savor.

Sencha & Yuzu — ¥650

Crisp sencha tea harmonizes beautifully with the refined citrus notes of yuzu. Fresh and elegant—a lovely choice after a meal.

We’ve also crafted complementary desserts and drinks to round out your summer experience.

Jasmine Cheesecake — ¥700

A dense, jasmine-infused cheesecake layered with lychee jelly and marshmallow for textural contrast. The crispy tart crust adds the perfect crunch to all three layers.
