It’s a full day to explore new ways of finding value in everyday items while connecting with others.

We’re excited to announce “Shibunan Matsuri”, an all-day festival themed around upcycling, taking place at Shibuya River Street and Shibuya Bridge—right in the Shibunan area where HOTEL GRAPHY Shibuya is located!
From creative workshops and food trucks to nostalgic festival stalls, the event will be packed with activities for both adults and kids to enjoy.
Theme: “Upcycle” — Creating New Value from the Everyday
The very first Shibunan Matsuri is built around the idea of “upcycling”—breathing new life into items that might otherwise be thrown away by transforming them with creativity and design. Visitors will get to experience the joy of discovering new value, while also being reminded of the importance of cherishing what we already have.
In Shibuya, a city where diverse cultures meet, this festival is more than just fun—it’s about taking a step toward a sustainable future together. And as day turns to night, the atmosphere will transform, offering a completely different experience to enjoy.
Spotlight: Striking Lantern Art by GOO CHOKI PAR
The festival’s visual design is directed by GOO CHOKI PAR, a renowned three-member design unit behind high-profile works such as NHK historical drama logos and New Balance branding. For Shibunan Matsuri, they’ve created a bold new visual identity for the town, expressed through color and playful design.
On the day of the event, you’ll see their vision come to life through giant lanterns nearly 2 meters tall set up around the venue. Alongside these will be mini lanterns and noren curtains, giving the space a vibrant, festive atmosphere that’s sure to leave a lasting impression.
