The year 2026 is the Year of the Horse.
Known for its strength and speed, the horse has long supported everyday life and is seen as a symbol of vitality, good harvests, and good health. The character 「午」(uma) also carries meanings tied to transition and the moment when the sun reaches its highest point, making it an auspicious sign often associated with new beginnings.
To welcome a year full of forward momentum, we’ve prepared our New Year’s limited breakfast, presented in a high-tea style that has been a guest favorite year after year. It’s a special way to start the first morning of the new year—bright, uplifting, and full of promise.
High Tea Style Breakfast × Osechi Culture

For New Year’s, we’ve created a special limited menu that keeps the comforting flavors you love—our homemade scones and daily toast—while adding a gentle touch of celebration worthy of the season.
In 2026, UNWIND HOTEL & BAR OTARU presents a one-of-a-kind breakfast where traditional osechi elements are reimagined in a high tea–style setting, allowing Japanese and Western flavors to come together naturally and beautifully.
Set in an open space with soaring ceilings, take your time and enjoy a slow, memorable morning—one that lets you fully savor the richness of Hokkaido’s local ingredients and the calm of the New Year.

- Homemade scones made with Hokkaido wheat
- Hokkaido yogurt (original fruit sauce)

- Ichimatsu kamaboko (checkered fish cake)

- New Year’s limited main dish

You can enjoy a dish that incorporates New Year’s lucky items such as datemaki and ichimatsu kamaboko with added arrangements. For the main dish, we have prepared gorgeous menu items that brighten the New Year’s table this year as well, such as roast beef and marinated seasonal fish, changing daily.
Also, local sparkling wine that makes the bright morning even more special will be served exclusively on January 1st and 2nd.
