Connect with Nature in the Heart of Shibuya! How to Enjoy the Fureai Botanical Center
Hello from HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA!
Today, I’d like to introduce Japan’s smallest community-style botanical garden with a theme of “growing and eating”—the Shibuya Fureai Botanical Center, that’s just a 30-second walk from HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA!

As the rainy season and summer heat approach, this garden is the perfect place to visit on days when going outdoors feels like a bit too much.
Since it’s an indoor facility, you can spend time there comfortably without worrying about the weather. You can relax with a book, enjoy coffee while gazing at the greenery, or take in the art on display—everyone is free to spend time here however they like.
The garden also features unique exhibits related to plants and food, inspired by its “grow and eat” concept

Great Access! Just 30 Seconds from the Hotel
If you’re staying at HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA, this is a must-visit spot.
Since it’s only 30 seconds away on foot, it’s ideal for a quick visit between sightseeing or work.
Whether you’re on your own, with friends, or with family, you’re sure to enjoy a peaceful moment here.

[1F Theater]
Right at the entrance, there’s a small theater showing videos of how plants and vegetables grow, plus clips from various events and daily activities. You can sit down and take your time watching.
[Hydroponics]
In the hydroponic room, vegetables like lettuce and arugula are grown under carefully controlled lighting.
You can enjoy freshly harvested salads in the café space on the 2nd floor.
You’ll also get to see new ways of farming using modern technology and creative ideas.

[Garden]
The garden is full of fruit trees like banana, fig, mandarin orange, lime, yuzu, and lemon, as well as tropical fruits like mango, guava, and coconut.
There’s also a herb garden with over 40 types of herbs, including lavender and mint.
The large banana tree is incredibly photogenic—perfect for Instagram!
You can use the elevator or stairs at the back of the 2nd-floor café to reach the [3F Gallery] and [4F Rooftop Farm].

On the 3rd floor, there’s a multi-purpose hall that hosts events like lectures, film screenings, and local markets.
On the rooftop farm on the 4th floor, herbs and tea plants are grown.
It’s a healing space where you can connect with nature while staying right in the city.
[Lectures]
- Workshops on how to start a small garden on your balcony
- Eco-friendly lessons on how to reuse kitchen waste
[Events]
- “Fureue Cinema Nights” with movies about food, farming, nature, and the Earth
- Workshops to make your own spice blends, sample spice-based dishes, and even pick tea on the rooftop farm

There’s also a café booth on the 2nd floor.
After exploring the facility, it’s a perfect spot to relax.
With soft background music and a green view, people of all ages enjoy this peaceful space in their own way. In the event booth at the back, cooking classes, art exhibitions, and workshops are held from time to time.

You can enjoy dishes inspired by ingredients grown in the garden, like a terrine made with grains and nuts (¥500), or a rare cheesecake with lemon peel and pistachio sauce (¥650).
The café offers cakes with the aroma of roasted nuts and fragrant teas that match the plant-filled surroundings. You can also change the milk in your café au lait or tea to oat milk at no extra cost.
Whether for lunch or dinner, it’s a calm and pleasant place to be.

At the entrance of the café booth, you’ll find a wall full of books related to farming and food.
There are picture books, photo books, expert guides, and beautifully illustrated titles—something for everyone.
A little bit of green and peace in your daily life.

Even though it’s right in the middle of the city, this garden feels like a hidden oasis. It’s a perfect summer hideaway for when you want to relax and feel close to nature. When you need a quiet moment or a little healing, stop by and see it for yourself.
