That place is Kawasui Kawasaki Aquarium.
More than just a traditional aquarium, it’s a true oasis in the city where you can even interact with adorable animals!
In this article, we’ll share three ways our staff personally enjoyed Kawasui Kawasaki Aquarium.
A World Tour Filled with Light and Greenery — Right Inside a Building by the Station!
The journey begins on the 10th floor in the Tama River Zone, continuing through the Oceania & Asia Zone and Africa Zone — it feels like a trip around the world.
You’ll encounter unique creatures, from fish known as “living fossils” to Jackson’s chameleons and sugar gliders.
The aquarium mainly features freshwater fish, so you’ll likely see many species you’ve never come across before.
On the 9th floor, the Panorama Screen Zone showcases life-sized visuals of rare animals like Amazon river dolphins and Amazon manatees that live in the Amazon River.
If you take photos near the screen, it really feels like you’re part of their underwater world.
One animal that caught our attention was the common marmoset, a small monkey from the South America Zone. Its adorable movements had us watching for a long time.
In the Agua Terra Area, you can see a pirarucu, one of the world’s largest freshwater fish, up close.
Our staff was overwhelmed by its size and presence.
In the same area, you can also feed and interact with popular animals like capybaras, or simply watch them relax from close by.
The chance to meet not only fish but also other charming animals is one of Kawasui’s biggest highlights.
2. Relax with Adorable Cats at “Soraneko Café”
After being soothed by the fish and capybaras, head to the 9th floor’s Soraneko Café.
Here, friendly and unique cats roam freely at their own pace.
You can gently pet them, play with them using toys, or just sit back on the sofa and watch them go about their day.
Spending time with these fluffy companions is sure to melt away any stress or fatigue.
It’s a dreamlike space that animal lovers won’t want to leave.
3. Enjoy Original Café Dishes!
Once you’ve had your fill of animal healing, it’s time to relax at the Komorebi Café Sweets & Cafe, also on the 9th floor.
Surrounded by greenery, it feels like you’re inside a forest.
The menu features unique items like the Kawasui Hot Latte, which showcases latte art of the featured cat from Soraneko Café, and the Soraneko Float, topped with a cat-shaped cookie.
Try the Catfish Set, which comes with a crispy catfish fry — a must-try when visiting.
As a perfect end to your healing experience, relax while enjoying your meal and looking through the photos you took — a lovely way to reflect on your time at the aquarium.
