Otaru’s Summer Tradition: “Otaru Ushio Festival”
Otaru’s signature summer event, the Otaru Ushio Festival (“Otaru Ushio Matsuri”),
will again be held for three days from Friday, July 25 to Sunday, July 27!
Celebrating its 59th year, this festival began with the hope of passing Otaru’s history and culture to the future and wishing for the city’s growth. Loved by locals ever since, it is a long-standing tradition.
It is one of the largest festivals in Otaru and the most popular summer spectacle, drawing big crowds every year. Not only citizens but also tourists get caught up in the excitement, and the entire city is filled with energy.
The opening day starts with the “Shio-Furekomi” parade, followed on the second day by the “Shio-Nerikomi,” where dancers march through the streets and the circle of dancing keeps spreading.
On the final day, the “Mikoshi Parade” and the grand fireworks display bring a dazzling finale to the three-day celebration.
Enjoy Rooftop Fireworks at the Hotel: One-Night-Only Event “UNWIND NIGHT TERRACE”
To let you savor the festival’s last-night fireworks in comfort, we will host the special event “UNWIND NIGHT TERRACE” on the rooftop terrace at the top floor of our hotel!
Watch the fireworks rise into the night sky from the hotel’s rooftop terrace at a relaxed pace.
While looking up at the colorful fireworks, treat yourself to an “Apero Set,” a light-meal plate featuring Hokkaido cheese, Yubari melon, and more. Pair it with sparkling wine or an original cocktail and spend a carefree evening.
Both staying guests and non-staying visitors are welcome to join!

- Adults: ¥4,000 (tax included)
- Minors: ¥3,000 (tax included)
- Elementary school age and under: Free
