UNWIND FLEA MARKET: Sapporo Creators Take Over 6 Hotel Rooms

Hello! This is Hoshi from UNWIND HOTEL & BAR SAPPORO.

The snow has finally melted, and spring is in the air here in Sapporo! On Sunday, April 20th, we hosted a special one-day-only spring flea market that took over not just Bar Ignis Sapporo on the 10th floor, but an entire guest room floor on the 9th as well.

At UNWIND, we’re all about sharing the culture, creativity, and charm of Hokkaido from our own unique perspective. This time, we invited some amazing local talent—directors, creators, designers, photographers, models, and more—to transform our guest rooms into personal pop-up shops for the day. Each room was filled with the personality and creative flair of its “shopkeeper,” offering guests a chance to explore, connect, and discover something new.

Meanwhile, the 10th floor turned into our Music & Bar floor, with local DJs setting the vibe and filling the space with great tunes. On the rooftop terrace, we served up a special spring BBQ menu featuring Hokkaido’s seasonal favorite—grilled lamb brochettes—alongside some of Bar Ignis Sapporo’s most popular bites and bar-quality cocktails, expertly mixed by our bartenders.

In this post, I’ll take you through a recap of the event with plenty of photos. Let’s relive the day together!

Flea Market Floor

– 9F

On the 9th floor, a variety of unique items from each vendor were on display. The wide range of goods made it an enjoyable experience for people of all genders and ages.

Many customers even posted photos of themselves wearing or their purchased items on Instagram Stories! We were delighted to see some customers come up to the 10th floor wearing their newly acquired items right away! It was a heartwarming scene, and they looked fantastic.

It seemed to be a valuable opportunity to purchase items with various stories behind them while directly interacting with the sellers, and everyone appeared to be thoroughly enjoying their shopping.

Below, we will introduce the atmosphere of each vendor’s room with photos.

ROOM #901

▲ Very popular handmade udon from Naganuma Town, Hokkaido was specially sold as take-home sets. Additionally, in a setting that felt like being in someone’s home, they also sold roasted coffee, as well as neon signs, general goods, photographs, collections of works, and records.

ROOM #902

▲This was the room of the illustrator who created the main visual for this event. They were selling postcards, stickers, various goods, and art pieces, as well as illustrations and posters featuring the mountains of Hokkaido. It was a room filled with the artist’s unique charm.

ROOM #903

▲This was the room of three women who are usually active in the fashion industry. They were selling their personal collection of vintage clothing, as well as their favorite shoes and handmade accessories. Many of their fans came to visit.

ROOM #904

  • Kenichi Mearashi Representative Director, Creative Director, and Art Director of April Co., Ltd.
▲The room of Mr. Mearashi, a prominent creator representing Hokkaido, was incredibly popular and felt just like a shop. Their child also helped out at their booth on the day of the event. They were selling their own vintage clothing, sneakers, rare stickers, and various goods. The vintage t-shirts were particularly appealing, and many of our staff members made purchases.

ROOM #905

▲This room, produced by two fashion experts who also came up with the name for this event, was filled with carefully selected vintage clothing, shoes, vintage furniture and appliances, and metalwork. Rare items that fetch quite high prices online were sold here at special flea market prices, exclusive to this event.

ROOM #906

▲This was the room of ugo, a popular general goods store in Sapporo. We also carry many of their items in the UNWIND Sapporo shop corner, but this time, in addition to the apparel, general goods, and other items they usually carry in their store, the owner, Onatsu-san, also sold many of her personally treasured items purchased overseas. The items sourced from Taiwan completely sold out!

MUSIC & BAR Floor

– 10F –

After discovering some great finds and enjoying shopping at the 9th-floor flea market, guests could head up to Bar Ignis Sapporo on the 10th floor to enjoy music, food, and drinks.

A key feature of this event was the chance to experience the sets of three DJs active in Sapporo. With the perfect music selection tailored to the time of day, the usually relaxed bar at UNWIND HOTEL & BAR SAPPORO was transformed into a special space.

Even though the weather wasn’t ideal that day, thankfully the rain was light, and we were able to offer the BBQ menu on the rooftop terrace.

The most popular item was the satisfying lamb prosciutto, and the bone-in sausages were also a big hit.

And, of course, Bar Ignis Sapporo is known for its large bonfire on the rooftop terrace. Children with their families particularly enjoyed the roasted marshmallows, and it seemed they had fun with the simple bonfire cooking experience.

As the sun set and the lights on the rooftop came on, the bar took on a wonderful atmosphere.

The bar-quality drinks served by our bartenders were also well-received, and the combination of drinks and pleasant music made for lively conversations.

At 6 PM, the 9th floor closed, and afterwards, all the flea market vendors also came up to the 10th floor. It seemed to be a valuable opportunity for people with different activities and hobbies in Hokkaido to connect from various perspectives.

Everyone enjoyed the food, drinks, music, conversation, and ambiance in their own way, creating a very warm, free, and relaxed atmosphere.

To all the guests who participated in this event, To everyone who cooperated with us, the vendors, the DJs, And to everyone who always cares about UNWIND HOTEL & BAR Sapporo, Thank you very much for this occasion.

At UNWIND HOTEL & BAR Sapporo, we are planning various future events that we hope guests staying with us and residents of the nearby community will enjoy. We will continue to strive to make UNWIND HOTEL & BAR SAPPORO a place where everyone can “update themselves,” providing new experiences, discoveries, and various forms of value.
