One Box Book Fair:Find Your Next Favorite Book at HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU on Saturday, April 25
At the café attached to the hotel, we are currently hosting “NEZU APERITIVO HOUR,” a special time to enjoy socializing at dusk.

A community-rooted hostel hotel in the heart of Yanesen — HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU
Tucked into the residential streets of Yanesen — the beloved Tokyo neighborhood made up of Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi — HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU is a hostel hotel with a spirit all its own. Built around the concept of “Meet Local. Feel Global.,” it’s a place where travelers from around the world and people who call the neighborhood home come together to experience local life and culture in an atmosphere that’s relaxed, open, and free-spirited — much like a backpacker hostel anywhere else in the world.
True to that spirit of connection, the hotel is once again joining this year’s “Shinobazu Book Street One Box Book Fair” as an official host venue — bringing book lovers and curious wanderers together under one roof.
A one-day book fair where you can browse, buy, and connect with fellow book lovers “Shinobazu Book Street One Box Book Fair”
Shinobazu Book Street One Box Book Fair has been a fixture of the Yanesen neighborhood since 2005. The concept is charmingly simple: local shops and venues open up their spaces as “landlords,” while book-loving vendors — each going by their own creative shop name — set up a one-day bookstore from a single cardboard box. It’s part flea market, part neighborhood gathering, and entirely wonderful.
This year, five locations across the area are participating as host venues. HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU is proud to be joining as a landlord for the seventh time.

On the day of the event, the hotel’s terrace and lounge — spaces that are normally reserved for guests and café visitors — will be opened up as part of the book fair. Nine small bookshops will set up in the venue, each curated by a vendor with their own distinct taste and sensibility. From picture books and paperbacks to photography books and self-published zines, the range is as wide as it is personal — and that’s exactly what makes it so fun to browse.
Beyond the books themselves, one of the best parts of this event is getting to talk directly with the sellers. Hearing the story behind a selection, or why a vendor loves a particular title, adds a whole new layer to the reading experience. Think of it like stumbling upon something unexpected during your travels — a surprise encounter with a book, or a person, you weren’t expecting to find.
A note from some of this year’s vendors (selected)
Tomikichiya: Specializing in philosophy, thought, literature, and the arts — with a strong focus on out-of-print, hard-to-find, and highly recommended titles.
Takeuma Shobo: It’s been over a decade since our last appearance. This edition of the Hitohako Koshon-ichi might just feature the most ●●● box in the fair’s history. We look forward to seeing you!
Suzuki Books: Our mission is simple — to create a space where people can pick up a book and fall in love with reading. We’re working toward opening our own shop in October 2027, and for now we’re bringing a selection of fiction and essays.
Sinne ja Takaisin: Bringing picture books that have been passed down through generations of readers.
Hamaya: Books I’ve loved, books that surprised me, books that made me think — passed along to whoever might need them next.
Honsato: Browse the messages on the outside of mystery book bags and guess what’s inside. Each bag contains a book and paper items related to it.
Liebe Shobo: A wide-ranging selection spanning the humanities, social sciences, literature, and more.
Kotoba-sha: Primarily featuring books about Okinawa, sourced locally on-site.
Tamayura Bunko: A personal collection untouched by trends — manga, novels, mook books, art collections, and doujinshi, plus an original sento (public bath) essay zine.

Wind down with an evening drink — NEZU APERITIVO HOUR is now on at the hotel café

On the ground floor of HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU, you’ll find a cozy in-house café. On the day of the book fair — and throughout the spring season — the café is running NEZU APERITIVO HOUR, a concept inspired by the Italian tradition of aperitivo: that golden window of time in the early evening when you slow down, sip something good, and enjoy a little food and conversation before dinner.
The HOTEL GRAPHY NEZU take on aperitivo blends Italian inspiration with a distinctly Nezu, distinctly GRAPHY, and distinctly Japanese sensibility. Think warm light, a relaxed atmosphere, and drinks designed to match the mood of a Tokyo sunset.
During NEZU APERITIVO HOUR, the café serves orange-hued cocktails made with Aperol — the Italian liqueur born in 1919 and beloved as a pre-dinner drink ever since — alongside seasonal spring sweets featuring citrus at its peak.

From left to right:
・Aperol Spritz — ¥950 (tax included)
・Red Wine Spritz — ¥950 (tax included)
・Aperomoni — ¥750 (tax included)
・Aperol Orange — ¥750 (tax included)

Orange Espresso: A beautiful two-layer drink where the bitterness of espresso meets the bright acidity of orange. It’s as pleasing to look at as it is to sip.

Amanatsu Cheesecake: Rich cream cheese, the refreshing tang of amanatsu citrus, and a touch of Aperol — together they create something surprisingly smooth and well-rounded.
