A Night of Light in Shibuya: SHIBUNAN CANDLE BRIDGE Returns This December
At Shibuya Bridge, home to HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA, the annual “SHIBUNAN CANDLE BRIDGE” will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, as part of a community project in partnership with Tokyu Corporation.
Inside the hotel, our restaurant will offer a special candlelit dinner course inspired by the event.
“Silent excitement in Shibuya”: a winter evening glowing through Shibunan
Built on the former elevated tracks of the Tokyu Toyoko Line, Shibuya Bridge becomes the stage for a collaboration with candle artist Masashi Minai. After last year’s warm reception, the event returns, once again bringing people together through the soft, gentle glow of candlelight.
This year, the walkway will be lined with candles placed beside heartfelt drawings created by local preschoolers, nearby residents, and international travelers staying with us at HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA. Visitors can also enjoy storytelling performances for children and a small pop-up market featuring gift-themed Christmas items.
Take a slow, peaceful stroll through the candlelit Namikibashi area — a calm passage that links Shibuya, Ebisu, and Daikanyama — and enjoy a winter moment that quiets the city while making it shine.

Call for Participants: “Messages in Candlelight”
Starting Monday, November 17, participation sheets will be available at the front desk of HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA. Write a message, draw a picture, or express any thoughts you’d like to share — simple, heartfelt, or playful, all are welcome.
Once you’re done, just return your sheet to the front desk. Your message will be displayed alongside the event’s candle installation, adding your light to the evening.
Who is Masashi Minai?
He began making candles in 2011, and in 2017 worked as an assistant for stage productions at large festivals. After becoming independent, he has continued producing his own candle works, solo exhibitions, music event productions, wedding decorations, and many other installations. In 2019, he launched his own brand “MINAI,” creating products inspired by various social issues.
Storytelling Live (16:00–17:00)
A little early Christmas gift from “Nijino Ehonya,” a picture book store in Tokyo! Enjoy a live performance where the world of picture books is brought to life with singing and live music. Adults can enjoy it as well, so please feel free to join with your family.

A special dinner enjoyed in an atmosphere produced by Masashi Minai
On Saturday, December 6 only, HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA’s restaurant “Graphic Grill & Bar” will offer a special dinner course in a space produced by candle artist Masashi Minai. A candle made by Minai will also be included as a souvenir. Enjoy a warm, candlelit evening in a beautiful atmosphere.
