From June 18 to July 31, 2025, THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN will host “EAST MEETS WEST,” a special collaboration event with Suntory’s American whiskey brand, LEGENT.

THE LIVELY BAR will become a limited-time music bar. Warm analog sounds will fill the space, played through vacuum tube amplifiers and vintage speakers. On weekends, specially selected playlists featuring jazz and retro J-POP will further enhance the atmosphere.

■ “Living Sculptures” Bonsai and a Mindful Moment
The terrace of THE LIVELY BAR will be decorated with bonsai, a traditional Japanese art cultivated through craftsmen’s skill and time.
Simply looking at these living sculptures brings calm and creates new mental space, a form of “visual meditation” gaining worldwide attention.
While enjoying the rich aroma of whiskey, experience this installation of life in the middle of the city.

■ One Night Only! Enjoy Japanese “Rakugo” in American Style
On Friday, July 18, for one night only, the lounge—usually reserved for hotel guests—will be reserved for an “English Rakugo Night.” Rakugo is a traditional Japanese storytelling art where a single performer plays multiple roles and brings scenes to life. This night will feature Shinoharu Tachikawa, who blends American style with Edo-period sophistication.
About Shinoharu Tachikawa
He spent a total of seven years during childhood and student days in the United States. After being deeply moved by Shinosuke Tachikawa’s rakugo while working at a trading company, he began training in October 2002 and was promoted to master storyteller in April 2020. He performs classic and new rakugo as well as many English-language rakugo shows. In 2023, he toured four major East Coast universities in the U.S., including Yale University, and has also visited Cambridge University in the U.K. multiple times for performances and workshops.
