[Event Report] Over 220 Guests Gather as 6th Anniversary: Event Unveils Major Spatial Design Upgrade

On Saturday, September 27, THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN celebrated its 6th anniversary with a special event titled “LIVELY Y3K DISCO.”

While anniversary events have been held every year since the hotel’s opening, this year marked the first joint celebration with our sister properties, THE LIVELY OSAKA HONMACHI and THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA.  Under the shared theme of “merging the future with the vibrant disco spirit of the 1980s,” each property expressed its own creative take on this concept.

This year, THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN placed special emphasis on spatial production. The highlight was a dazzling projection mapping display that greeted guests the moment they stepped out of the elevator on the second floor.

Dynamic visuals were cast onto a tall vertical wall connecting the low ceiling of the DJ booth (which normally serves as the front desk) with the atrium skylight above, creating an immersive spectacle that captivated every visitor.

The visuals were specially produced by REI TOMINAGA, a talented VJ known for performing at over 300 club events annually and serving as a regular on the music program ABEMAMIX.

From ancient ruin–inspired imagery that blended beautifully with the room’s warm beige tones, to futuristic geometric patterns and dreamy, out-of-focus shots of city lights and passing cars—his works transcended genres, mesmerizing everyone on the floor.

The makeshift dance hall—set between the elevator and DJ booth—featured metallic cutting sheets on the floor to evoke a retro disco vibe, while mirror balls glittered overhead in the lounge to tie the décor together.

Throughout the night, three DJs delivered an unbroken stream of tracks that synced perfectly with the rhythm and heartbeat of the crowd.

As beats rose from break to drop, so did the cheers, and the dance floor pulsed with life—an unforgettable scene far removed from the hotel’s usual calm elegance.

No disco night would be complete without good food and drinks!

With the help of guest bartenders and collaborators from our sister properties, this aspect of the event was also a huge success.   From Osaka Honmachi came the creative “Y3K Balls,” an evolved take on takoyaki, while Fukuoka Hakata presented bite-sized mizutaki (chicken hot pot)—each available for just 500 yen.

Our own bartender offered his signature keema curry, made with fragrant saffron rice, herb-infused sauce, and colorful diced vegetable pickles on the side—a dish full of care and flavor.

(For those who missed it, the curry is also available at our bar during regular business hours!)

As the night deepened, the atmosphere reached its peak with a flair bartending show by Masahiro Ienaga, a YouTuber with over 150,000 subscribers. Under a chorus of claps, he juggled bottles and shakers with precision and artistry, crafting a vivid cocktail that drew thunderous applause—a fitting highlight for a night of celebration.

According to a final count in early October, the event welcomed 225 guests in a single evening. Many were first-time visitors, and it proved to be a wonderful opportunity for people to experience the unique appeal of our lifestyle hotel.

As part of this new chapter, we are pleased to announce that the projection mapping installation showcased during the event will soon become a permanent feature, starting in early November.   We warmly invite you to visit THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJYUBAN and experience that same sense of extraordinary immersion anytime.
