Hawaii’s coconut ice cream ‘Coconut Glen’s Kitahama’ has arrived in Kansai! Just a 5 minute walk from the hotel!

A Hawaiian-style vegan ice cream shop has recently opened its doors just a 5 minute walk from THE LIVELY OSAKA HONMACHI! Coconut Glen’s already has a few locations across Japan, including Tokyo and Okinawa, but this marks their first shop in Osaka.

And luckily for us, it’s only a short walk from THE LIVELY OSAKA HONMACHI.

■ Bringing a tropical vibe to Osaka

Coconut Glen is a great spot to cool down whether you’re heading out on an adventure or returning from one.

The entrance is decorated with palm leaves, wooden boards, and even a cozy little decking area, making you feel like you’ve stepped onto an island resort, and not the bustling streets of Osaka.

■ An array of flavours to choose from!

Made with a base of 100% organic coconut milk, every flavor at Coconut Glen’s is completely vegan, yet still rich, smooth, and creamy. Free from eggs, dairy, and all animal products, these treats can be enjoyed guilt-free — with no sacrifice in taste. The lineup features unique flavors like Ginger Lemongrass, Banana Rum Raisin, and their signature tropical favorite, Lilikoi (passionfruit).

■ A fully vegan treat that doesn’t compromise on texture.

I decided to try the waffle set (also 100% vegan!), which comes with two warm waffles, sliced banana, your choice of two scoops of ice cream, and a generous sprinkle of their famous coconut flakes. 

For my flavors, I chose Pistachio, Original Coconut, and Lilikoi.

While many dairy free ice creams tend to lean toward a sorbet-like texture, Coconut Glen’s scoops were surprisingly smooth and creamy, easily rivaling traditional ice cream.

■ Vegan, delicious, and surprisingly affordable.

Coconut Glen’s is more than just a vegan ice cream shop; it’s a little tropical escape in the middle of the city. With a focus on natural, plant based ingredients and island inspired flavors, it’s a great spot for anyone looking to treat themselves without compromise.
