Celebrating 6 Years: slash kawasaki’s First Artist Collaboration with Chiaki Harada

Hotel-industry first: Illustrator Chiaki Harada × lifestyle hotel slash kawasaki
At slash kawasaki, we regularly collaborate with up-and-coming artists to bring bursts of color and creativity not only to our guests but also to the local community. For our 6th anniversary, we’re taking this a step further with a hotel-wide collaboration themed around “colorful,” brightening every corner of the space with art and imagination.
This time, our collaborator is illustrator Chiaki Harada, known for her bold use of pop colors and strikingly sharp messages that always resonate. Calling herself a “maker of rude lines for good kids,” Harada captures the gloomy, stuck feelings we sometimes hide inside, transforming them into vibrant works full of wit and honesty. She is one of today’s most talked-about illustrators, with a portfolio ranging from the EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai art project “Co-MYAKU’25” to book covers and product design.
Through this collaboration, slash kawasaki will be filled with Harada’s unique energy, featuring original illustrated goods, limited-edition room plans with exclusive items, and a collaboration café. It’s a special program designed to transform the entire hotel into her world of color and character.
Original illustration “A place to be selfish”

Most of our guests are in their teens and twenties. They love using the in-room projectors to dive into their favorite movies, enjoy fan activities, and simply spend time surrounded by the things they love.
For this collaboration, illustrator Chiaki Harada has captured that feeling — the joy of focusing completely on “what you like” without worrying about the outside world. It’s exactly the kind of time our guests experience at our hotel.
As the year-end season approaches and life feels busy and rushed, many of us long for a place to slow down, be ourselves, and do what makes us happy. At slash kawasaki, that’s what we provide — and through Harada’s colorful world, we’re delivering that experience in an even more vivid way.
Limited-Time Room Signage & Special Stay Plan
To celebrate this first-of-its-kind collaboration with Chiaki Harada, we’ve created a special stay plan along with exclusive room-number signage. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in Harada’s unique world not only through goods and events but also as part of their actual stay experience.

Enjoy Harada Chiaki’s world through food at the collaboration café

On the hotel’s ground floor, slash cafe & bar kawasaki will host a special collaboration café where guests can step into Chiaki Harada’s colorful world through food.
Usually inspired by an American diner concept, the café will transform three fan-favorite items — burgers, hot dogs, and ice cream sundaes — into vibrant, themed dishes that bring Harada’s pop colors to life. Each plate will be served with an exclusive illustration, making the experience as visual as it is delicious.
To complete the set, we’ll also offer melon sodas and cocktails in multiple color variations, each served with a coaster featuring Harada’s artwork.
Inside the café, panels showcasing Harada’s art and messages will be displayed throughout the space. Take photos with the playful dishes, read and connect with the thought-provoking messages, or go on a hunt around the hotel to spot items featured in the illustrations. The collaboration café invites you to enjoy slash kawasaki’s space in your own colorful way.
