Notice of Accommodation Tax Introduction (Effective for stays from April 1, 2026)

Please be informed that an Accommodation Tax is scheduled to be introduced by Hokkaido Prefecture and Otaru City for stays from April 1, 2026 onward.
Please note that the accommodation rates displayed on booking websites do not include the accommodation tax.
The tax will be collected separately at the front desk upon check-in.
■ Accommodation Tax (per person, per night)
Room rate under JPY 20,000 : JPY 300 (Hokkaido JPY 100 + Otaru City JPY 200)
Room rate from JPY 20,000 to under JPY 50,000 : JPY 400 (Hokkaido JPY 200 + Otaru City JPY 200)
Room rate of JPY 50,000 or more : JPY 700 (Hokkaido JPY 500 + Otaru City JPY 200)
The accommodation tax is calculated based on the room-only rate, excluding meals and consumption tax, and including service charges.
Even if your reservation was made before April 1, 2026, the tax will apply to stays on or after April 1, 2026.
