Q: What kind of work do you do at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I work at the front desk.

Q: When did you start working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I joined as a full-time employee in September 2023.

Q: Why did you choose to work at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

After graduating from a hotel specialized school, I started working at a major Japanese hotel as a new graduate and worked there for about 6 years. However, I realized that despite the stability of working for a large corporation, I wasn’t able to pursue new challenges as my daily tasks became repetitive so I decided to change jobs. Since I wanted to stay in the hotel industry, I came across a job listing for LVA. I was drawn to the concept of the official website THE LIVELY brand and found the Global Agents company itself appealing, which led me to want to work at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN.

Q: What do you enjoy about working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

At LVA, we have many foreign guests, especially from Europe and the United States, so I often use English and feel like I’m working in an international atmosphere. I also admire the casual style of customer service at THE LIVELY that is not too formal or relaxed. In addition to front desk duties, employees at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN also handle tasks such as marketing and dealings with OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) within their job scope, which makes it enjoyable to be able to take on various tasks and challenges.

Q: What do you think makes THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN different from other hotels?

This overlaps with the previous answer, but I think one of the major differences from other hotels is that the staff here can work while maintaining their individuality. For example, thanks to the freedom regarding nail polish and hairstyles, it often becomes a conversation starter with guests.

Q: What are your hobbies?

Listening to music while surfing the internet: I search for or create playlists on YouTube or Apple Music and play them as background music. Since I enjoy being at home, I watch various things on the internet, mainly related to interior design or cooking, and occasionally read travel articles. I used to self-study Japanese and now I am self-studying Korean. My biggest motivation for studying Korean was because I’m a fan of a K-pop idol group. Sometimes I bring my camera along for their events.

Q: What are your future goals?

I aim to become proficient in hotel management and operations in general, and hope to contribute when Global Agents launches hotel businesses in Japan or Taiwan in the future.

Q: What are your favorite spots?

Although Shibuya is popular with tourists, I’ve been in Tokyo for about 8 years and still love Shibuya. You can enjoy various activities such as shopping, dining and bar-hopping all in one area, which is fantastic. Recently, I’ve been thinking about revisiting a music bar called B.Y.G. It’s an old-school rock cafe that opened in 1969, with a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere and plenty of records. The interior plays rock music, and although I’m not very knowledgeable about music, I love the atmosphere. They have a wide variety of cocktails and snacks. Highly recommended.

Q: What advice do you have for those interested in working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN is a workplace where people with various backgrounds gather. Most of the staff are of the same age range, and the environment is easy to work in, with freedom regarding nails and hairstyles. Since people from various language backgrounds work together, it can be challenging to communicate at times, but I think it will be a fun and valuable experience.

Q: What kind of work do you do at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I work as a general staff member.

Q: When did you start working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

November 1st, 2023. Before that I worked at a craft beer izakaya.

Q: Why did you choose to work at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

In general, the mission statement of the company appealed a lot to me. The company focuses on creating a new culture in the world and the hotel acts as a space where you can “update” yourself while staying here. I also like the balance between fancy and casual, and I wanted to work in an international environment. Moreover, coming from a service-related background, the long hours were starting to wear me down, so I really appreciate the shorter working hours and being able to take proper vacation time and holidays.

Q: What do you enjoy about working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I like the people I work with. It makes coming to work each day fun. It is a very casual working atmosphere, which makes it easy to share ideas with each other.

Q: What do you think makes THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN different from other hotels?

The balance between the fancy design of the hotel and the casual nature of the staff means most guests feel right at home when they stay with us. We also have a daily free happy hour in the evening, that allows us to connect and build relationships with our guests.

Q: What are your hobbies?

I recently started doing stand upstandup comedy, as a way to challenge myself and put me out of my comfort zone. At some point I realized I kind of hid myself from the world, and I thought if I can continue that way, I would never achieve all the things I want out of life so stand-up is my way of facing the world head on. Also I just really enjoy making people laugh by telling embarrassing stories about my life.

Q: What are your future goals?

I would like to help build the first THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN hotel in Europe and help set up a European division in general. I think most cities could benefit from a hotel like THE LIVELY, where you can go to renew yourself, but that also encourages guests to interact with people from all over the world, and fosters new connections, and helps you broaden your understanding of the world. It’s cool each hotel kind of adapts to the city that it’s in, meaning the customer will get a different experience depending on the hotel they choose to stay at.

Q: What are your favorite spots?

There is a cafe in Shimokitazawa, that I really like called the usual. They make a delicious thick creamy chai tea latte, and I love the effort the owner puts into his latte art.

Q: What advice do you have for those interested in working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

Just go for it.

Q: What kind of work do you do at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I am responsible for managing the cleaning team as a room attendant at the hotel. Additionally, I oversee facility-related matters, including repairs, improvements and procurement.

Q: When did you start working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I started in October 2022, so it’s been almost a year and a half.

Q: Why did you choose to work at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

After I moved to Japan in 2018, I worked in a hostel and guesthouse management company for 3 and a half years. When the company shut down due to COVID-19, I still wanted to stay in the same field of business but also wanted to have some different experiences. Working in a normal hotel could be a good chance to learn general hotel service but there would be many chances to try new things.

Q: What do you enjoy about working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

The cleaning team I oversee consists of staff from various nationalities. It’s personally enjoyable for me to see people from different languages, backgrounds and cultures come together to work as a team, building diverse relationships beyond just work.

Q: What do you think makes THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN different from other hotels?

While maintaining a sense of luxury, we strive to maintain a more approachable attitude towards customer service. Being a new hotel with a youthful mindset, we quickly introduce new systems and equipment.

Q: What are your hobbies?

I don’t go every week, but I enjoy playing survival games. I like the tension of shooting while running on the field, but even when I’m not playing, imagining how to use my gear while maintaining and customizing it is the real fun.

Q: What are your future goals?

My goal is to own and operate my own guesthouse in the future. Therefore, at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN, I would like to gain experience in all aspects of operating accommodation facilities, in addition to the equipment and cleaning-related tasks I am currently doing.

Q: What are your favorite spots?

I recommend visiting the State Guest House Akasaka Palace. It’s where VIPs like foreign presidents stay when they visit Japan, but when there are no scheduled stays, ordinary people can enter. The interior is like a European-style palace with a sense of luxury, but it also incorporates Japanese cultural details here and there, making it interesting.

Q: What advice do you have for those interested in working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

Unlike other workplaces, it’s more common here to work by thinking about what you want to do to improve this hotel rather than just following instructions from above. Even if it’s the same job every day, if you have the imagination to find things like “How can I work more efficiently?” or “Wouldn’t it be better to do this differently here?” on your own, I think you’ll find the work here enjoyable.

I work at the front desk. I’m always at the front, mainly focusing on customer service. I handle administrative tasks every day and strive to provide service that satisfies our guests.

I started on October 1st, 2021, so it’s been about 2 years and 3 months.

Q: Why did you choose to work at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I was strongly drawn to the opportunity for international exchange. I communicate in English with cleaners and guests every day, and I learn something new every day. I still find the variety of customer service, conversations with colleagues and the abundance of projects at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN very appealing! Also, the exterior and interior are beautiful.

Q: What do you enjoy about working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

During my time in Japan, I’ve had the opportunity to directly engage with guests and explore the various ways I can provide exceptional service. This hands-on experience has allowed me to enhance my adaptability, insightfulness and communication skills, which brings me immense joy and fulfillment.

Q: What do you think makes THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN different from other hotels?

Unlike other hotels that emphasize part-time or full-time employees, THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN provides a place where you can challenge yourself and contribute your strengths, allowing for self-realization. I’ve always admired the people I’ve seen enjoying their work with smiles in a relaxed manner.

Q: What are your hobbies?

I meet up with friends who dance and take dance videos or participate in performances! I also enjoy nail art and come up with designs each time, even doing self-nail art. Recently, I’ve been hooked on saunas, so if you have any recommendations, please let me know.

Q: What are your future goals?

I aspire to continue honing my core skills in customer service, enhancing my ability to serve guests, and ultimately, leveraging my developed skills to contribute and provide value in my role.

Q: What are your favorite spots?

I recommend visiting my hometown, Fukushima Prefecture! My relatives are all in the countryside, and the air, food and local people are very warm and healing. It’s perfect for when you’re feeling tired or want to relax! Please visit at least once ♡

Q: What kind of work do you do at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I was hired as an employee at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN full-time. I mainly work at the front desk, but it’s an environment where I can talk to friendly customers every day, and it’s an environment where I can be myself.

Q: When did you start working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

Since July of 2023.

Q: Why did you choose to work at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

I saw on the official website that it said “You can challenge yourself and explore your new skills” and I was interested in testing myself since I’ve been in the hotel industry for a total of 9 years now.

I feel that the environment where you can challenge new things every day is fun. You can learn a lot of things because you can take on challenging tasks that you want to try yourself. It is a place where you can have adventures every day.

Q: What do you think makes THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN different from other hotels?

It is a place where you can express yourself. Although there are uniforms, I feel that you can still express yourself through your clothes, hairstyle, tattoos and nails, which is normally not accepted at other hotels.

Q: What are your hobbies?

It is to go on a trip with members who I get along well with at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN. I like going sightseeing in various places and introducing them to my guests!

Q: What are your future goals?

Study hotel management at Global Agents and spread Japanese hotel management and hospitality overseas!

Q: What are your favorite spots?

Cafe Legato. There is an Italian DJ booth in Shibuya, and you can request what you like, so I go there once a month!

Q: What advice do you have for those interested in working at THE LIVELY TOKYO AZABUJUBAN?

At first, you may be confused because there is no manual guide for anything. However, I think it is a company that will advance your career because your kind seniors will help you understand your job and let you challenge yourself with whatever tasks you want to take on. If you don’t know the basics, you can ask me or if there is something you don’t like, there are many opportunities for the staff to discuss with each other, so I think it’s easy to deepen relationships between the staff members!
