Reimagining the Acai Bowl with Japanese Ingredients: Try a New Summer Sweet Featuring Haskap Berries and Seasonal Fruits
This summer, THE LIVELY OSAKA HONMACHI will begin offering a new seasonal sweet called “Wasaii,” starting Sunday, June 1, 2025. It will be available as part of a limited-time stay plan and at the hotel’s rooftop bar, THE LIVELY BAR OSAKA HONMACHI.

The First Chapter of Our New Concept: “Wasaii” — A Japanese Take on the Acai Bowl
THE LIVELY OSAKA HONMACHI has been offering French-Japanese hybrid desserts crafted by a French-trained chef, under the concept of “Emotion × Mode (Emode).” Now, the hotel is launching a bold new direction for its sweets program. Rather than focusing solely on taste and beauty, the new concept introduces desserts full of surprises and discovery — ones that make you think, “I’ve never seen anything like this” or “Is this really a dessert?”
These new creations continue to be crafted by the hotel’s chef, blending refined skills and aesthetics developed over a professional career with a free-spirited, outside-the-box approach. The result is a lineup of one-of-a-kind sweets you can only enjoy at THE LIVELY OSAKA HONMACHI — the kind of desserts you’ll want to be the first to try, going beyond just being “Instagrammable.” More sweets under this new concept will be released regularly in the future.
The first item in this renewed lineup is “Wasaii,” a reinvention of the acai bowl — originally from Brazil — made using Japanese ingredients.
Instead of acai, “Wasaii” features haskap, a native superfruit from Hokkaido. Known for its tart flavor and rich nutrients like vitamin C, anthocyanins, iron, calcium, and dietary fiber, haskap is combined with other Japanese ingredients: Okinawan purple sweet potato and brown sugar, kabosu citrus from Kyushu, and blueberries from the Shinshu and Tohoku regions. The result is a perfectly balanced sweet that highlights Japan’s unique ingredients and tastes.
The bowl is topped with generous amounts of seasonal fruits like peach, melon, fig, cherry, and watermelon, along with Japanese barley cereal, multigrain puffs, and organic black sesame for extra texture. Acacia honey adds natural sweetness and brings the dish together. Served in Shigaraki-yaki pottery, the presentation reflects traditional Japanese beauty and creates a rich moment of enjoyment.
This summer, we invite you to experience a completely new kind of dessert at THE LIVELY OSAKA HONMACHI.
