From Saturday, November 11, slash Kawasaki will start selling collaborative goods featuring slash Kawasaki art by Haruna Maeda, a popular illustrator who uses colorful and catchy graphics. To celebrate the sale of the collaborative goods, an exhibition and sale of Maeda Haruna’s canvas works and original goods will also be held from November 11 to 19.

Fifth Hotel x Artist Collaboration
At the lifestyle hotel slash Kawasaki, all rooms are equipped with a projector, allowing guests to enjoy a unique hotel stay by watching movies or live shows in their rooms. In June 2021, a collaboration project with a young artist was launched under the themes of “movies” and “how to spend time at the hotel.” More than 80% of the users of slash Kawasaki are in their 20s and many of them are in-tune with modern fashion, art and other cultural trends. The artist collaboration projects have always been well received by guests as a chance to experience new inspiration through encounters with artists and art made by those from the same generation.

For this artist collaboration, we asked popular illustrator Haruna Maeda, whose catchy graphics are characteristic of the hotel, to create collaborative artwork. Original T-shirts and stickers using the two types of collaboration artwork, which depict scenes of guests spending time in rooms with projectors and in the hotel’s restaurant, will be on sale from November 11. In addition, from November 11 to 19, Maeda Haruna’s canvas works will be exhibited and original goods will be on sale. Those who do take-out at the hotel’s restaurant, slashcafe&bar Kawasaki, will be offered drinks in cups with collaboration art stickers.

“This time, I drew two original artworks with the hotel’s fourth anniversary in mind, using slash Kawasaki’s greatest attractions – the guest rooms with projectors and the hotel restaurant – as the stage for the artworks, which are fun to look at.
The first depicts a group of three people relaxing while watching a film on the guest room projector. It features the peaceful atmosphere at slash Kawasaki and small clouds that have entered from outside the window. But wait, pillows, beds, or clouds…? We have created a comfortable and relaxing space that is so confusing that it is filled with the charm of slash Kawasaki to the maximum extent.
The second image shows girls enjoying their morning at slash cafe&bar Kawasaki. The illustration is based on an American diner, incorporating the hotel’s symbolic lighting and bar counter, and is designed with slash Kawasaki in mind. The illustration depicts the girls having a great start to the day with a hot sandwich, a popular menu item that is actually served there. “

Born in 1997. Illustrator living in Tokyo. She is active in a wide range of activities, including holding pop-up shops and solo exhibitions, creating main visuals for commercial facilities, illustrating for magazines and designing apparel.
On Saturday, November 11, the hotel will hold its 4th anniversary event “slash 4th Anniversary Good Old days!”. The event will feature four 80s-themed contents: food, games, a photo booth and art. Updates will be posted on slash Kawasaki’s official Instagram and on the official Lively Hotels website.
