As such, I would like to recommend B3 COFFEE OTARU, which is popular for its speciality coffee and relaxed atmosphere.
The stylish minimalist shop is decorated with ski boards and snowboards, as well as posters of past Olympic Games, giving the interior the feel of a winter wonderland.

This café is run by an Australian, Mr. Black, and his Japanese wife and daughter. The name of the shop, B3, stands for “the three members of the Black family.”
When you go to the restaurant, you can always enjoy a chat with the cheerful Mr. and Mrs. Black, who will talk to you in a casual manner. The husband’s Japanese, mixed with the Kansai dialect, is curious yet fluent and nice to listen to.
It is also fun to watch the authentic espresso machine in action!
There are several reasons why I recommend B3 COFFEE OTARU, not least of which is the excellent coffee made using an espresso machine from La Marzocco in Italy.
Espresso coffee is extracted under pressure, which means that more of the ingredients dissolve in the hot water than in drip coffee, resulting in a richer flavor. The process of making the coffee uses steam, making even just watching the espresso machine a fun experience.
Australia x coffee?
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word Australia?
Koalas? Uluru? Aussie beef?
Coffee is not the first thing people think of when they think of Australia, but surprisingly, coffee culture is deeply rooted in Australia.
The mainstay of coffee is not drip coffee from the USA, but espresso coffee from Europe.
From there, iconic Australian drinking styles such as flat white coffee were invented. Of course, you can enjoy a flat white at B3 COFFEE OTARU.
I recommend the coffee menu of the day + toast menu.
It’s a classic combination, like “Onigiri + Miso soup” in Japanese food, that creates a sense of security and appreciation for simplicity.
