Chiyoda Cherry Blossom Festival
The Chiyoda Cherry Blossom Festival takes place in and around Kitanomaru Park, renowned for its stunning cherry trees. This festival is among Tokyo’s most popular, attracting over a million spectators from across Japan. Along the 700-meter-long Chidorigafuchi-ryokudo Walkway, approximately 260 Somei-yoshino and Oshima cherry trees create a captivating tunnel of pink blossoms, illuminated at dusk for a magical sight. Visitors can extend their experience by taking rowing boats out onto the Chidorigafuchi Moat, open late during the festival, providing a unique perspective of the cherry blossoms from the water. However, due to the high volume of visitors, access to the Chidorigafuchi Green Way may be limited during peak times. Additionally, while there are no restaurants or food stalls along the Green Way, food stalls are set up in the vicinity, offering seasonal delicacies and traditional festival fare.

Matsuda Cherry Blossom Festival
The south side of Mt. Matsuda boasts around 360 Kawazu-zakura trees, painting the landscape with vibrant hues. These cherry blossoms typically reach full bloom by mid-February, offering an early glimpse of spring unparalleled by other areas near Tokyo. Adding to the allure is the stunning backdrop of Mount Fuji, creating a picturesque setting. Anticipate weekends to be particularly lively. Here, early-blooming kawazu-zakura trees harmonize with vibrant yellow rapeseed flowers, signaling the arrival of spring in Kanagawa Prefecture. Kawazu-zakura, a lesser-known cherry blossom variety in Japan, blooms earlier than its counterparts, typically in early to mid-February. Originating from Shizuoka Prefecture, specifically Kawazu Town on the Izu Peninsula, these blossoms boast larger petals and a more intense pink hue, with a prolonged blooming period lasting up to a month depending on weather conditions.

Miura-kaigan Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival

These early-blooming cherry blossoms boast large pink flowers, offering a stunning display of colorful scenery. Local products, including fresh vegetables, are available for purchase at tents near the station. During the festival, visitors can also enjoy the enchanting sight of illuminated cherry blossoms at night, creating a magical atmosphere. Notably, a spectacular 1km illumination along the railway track leading to Komatsugaike Park is a highlight.
